Services AcceleDent®
AcceleDent® is a product that is used in conjunction with braces or aligners to reduce your amount of orthodontic treatment time. AcceleDent® enhances the forces of braces or aligners onto your teeth by using a pulsing force that increases bone remodelling which speeds up tooth movement.
How does it work? To explain how it works we need to understand how braces and aligners work. Teeth are positioned in a bony socket supported by ligaments and covered in gum tissue. The pressure that is applied on your teeth by braces or aligners stretches the ligaments on parts of your teeth and compresses opposite parts. These forces lead to activation of bone cells and allow them to take away tiny amounts of bone so that the teeth can be moved into the desired position. This is known as bone remodelling.
The pulsating action of AcceleDent® on teeth their surrounding ligaments and bones increases the cellular response that controls bone remodelling. This type of technology has been used in medicine for years to increase bone strength and aid in the healing of fractures in long bones and to improve bone density. |
